This winter has been crazy, and I was going stir crazy from being inside. So, when fairly decent weekend weather approached, I took full advantage and planned a day trip. My love of animals drew me to The Wolf Sanctuary of Pa in Lititz. The drive was nice, through countryside and lots of farmland. The sanctuary is home to over 40 wolves and wolf dog hybrids that no longer have a place in the outside world. This non-profit wolf sanctuary offers education and a tour for a small fee which all goes towards the care of the wolf’s. We were able to take pictures of the wolf’s and learn all about who they are and why they were there. After the tour, we checked out the gift shop and as we were leaving got to hear a few of them howling, it was quite an experience and one I will not forget.
We then drove into the town of Lititz, and had lunch at a wonderful place called the Appalachian Brewery. The food was incredible, and my husband enjoyed a tasting of a few beers. We then purchased a souvenir jug of beer to take home that you can bring back to refill!
We were so stuffed, and wanted to walk around a bit before the drive home. This little town had so much to offer, shop after shop of chocolate, teas, antiques, and 2 other breweries made for a perfect afternoon of a little shopping and snacks for later.
The local store owners were extremely nice and welcoming and I can’t wait to come back in warmer weather and walk around a bit more. This made for a perfect “date” day with my hubby and a nice way to spend some time together. The ride home was nice, and singing to some old songs on the radio made for a nice romantic day trip.
